What We Do
WIC (Women, Infant and Children) services offer nutritional counseling, breastfeeding support and access to healthy foods that they may not otherwise have access to due to low income. Our WIC office recently went back to in-person appointments offering weight, height and hemoglobin checks in the WIC office to help monitor patient's nutritional status.
Who We Serve
WIC serves pregnant and postpartum mothers, infants and children up to 5 years old, as well as foster families when qualified.
How We Impact
WIC helps boost health outcomes for Duplin County residents through providing access to healthy foods as well as education for each population listed above during their time of need to help promote healthy lifestyles. WIC also offers a breast feeding peer counselor program that helps breastfeeding mothers with advice as well as a breast pump loan program for those who qualify.
