Terrie Hess House Child Advocacy Center

What We Do

The mission of the Terrie Hess Child Advocacy Center is to serve the needs of children and families in Rowan County by providing a community-based center which uses best practices in prevention as well as the identification, investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse.

We support child victims of abuse and their non-offending caregivers with critical in-house services at our nationally accredited facility. We offer free youth and adult education and support opportunities to teach our community about preventing child abuse. We will also provide parenting education to offending caregivers.

Who We Serve

All residents of Rowan County.

How We Impact

We work to increase mental health services for families and non-offending caregivers of children who have suffered from abuse. We strengthen public awareness of child abuse via community-wide campaigns and in the Rowan-Salisbury Schools for first- and fifth-graders. Parenting education programs aim to provide children with a safe, supportive home environment. Children alleging sexual or severe physical abuse in Rowan County receive supportive services from the Terrie Hess House Child Advocacy Center through age 21.
