The CATCH My Breath Program offers a vaping prevention curriculum (available in both English and Spanish) for grades 5-12. It is a peer-led program with adults acting as facilitators, empowering students to make informed decisions about e-cigarettes and resist social pressures to vape. Each grade version contains 4 scripted lessons, lasting 30-45 minutes. CATCH My Breath can be facilitated by educators, state and local government agencies, public health specialists, and community volunteers. The program also includes parent resources and additional supplemental lessons. Additionally, CATCH My Breath has a youth advisory board that reviews and informs content and initiatives.

CATCH My Breath is the only school-based vaping prevention program proven to reduce the likelihood of vaping among youth. Halifax County Public Health System serves students in middle and high schools in the following Halifax County LEAs:

Roanoke Rapids Graded School District, Halifax County Schools and Weldon City Schools

The Halifax County Health Department has partnered with local middle and high schools and community organizations to implement the CATCH My Breath Vape Prevention Program to over 354 students.  CATCH My Breath is an evidenced-based vape prevention program designed to be implemented in a school setting for grades 5-12. CATCH My Breath is a peer-led teaching approach that empowers students with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions about e-cigarettes. The program educates students on the social pressures to vape and strong refusal skills.  Students enjoyed the program including creating their own social media campaign on the dangers of vaping, how to say no and the harmful ingredients.
