Description

The North Carolina ITTS project provides HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis C testing in areas frequented by high risk persons. This program ensures that those who test positive are paired with medical care and other services. It also provides sexual protection such as condoms and dental dams and education on safe sex habits.

The ITTS program serves the at-risk population such as males who participate in same sex relations, racial and ethnic minorities, those living with HIV/AIDS unknowingly, and others. The program provides these services to all individuals residing in Wayne, Jones, Lenoir and Greene Counties.

ITTS provides its services at hours and locations that are accessible to persons who are at high risk for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis C. These places include but are not limited to soup kitchens, shelters, and college campuses. At each pop-up clinic testing, condoms, dental dams, and counseling are provided to those who wish to participate. Our team offers supportive counseling, prevention education, and direct referrals to medical care and community resources, ensuring testing is not just a one-time service but part of a pathway to long-term health.

Progress in 2025

The ITTS program was able to provide 138 tests for HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis C between the four participating counties from January 2025 - August 2025.
