Progress in 2023
Overall breast cancer mortality in the US has declined since 1990, but racial/ethnic disparities have worsened. NC BCCCP provides free/low-cost breast cancer screening to underserved women as part of a national effort by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to mitigate these disparities.
Brunswick County Health Services served over 250 women for breast and cervical cancer to help reduce disparities for all women to have access to affordable health care.
Progress in 2024
February 2024 Update: Brunswick County Health Services has scheduled Novant Health’s mobile mammography bus on March 11th to be on-site to ensure women have access to high-quality breast health services, regardless of ability to travel to a full-service imaging center.
