Why Is This A Priority?
In April 2023, the County of San Diego, Public Health Services, Community Health Statistics Unit presented the South Region Community Health Assessment. The data revealed a dramatic change in overdoes over the last four years. South Bay is of particular focus for having the largest increase in hospitalization rates for alcohol-related disorders and suices, in all South Region SRAs. See population indicators below for more information.
Strategy For Change
The Behavioral and Mental Health Workgroup supports the Live Well San Diego vision by building a healthier South Region through the community impact model. The South Region Community Leadership Team implements the Baldrige Communities of Excellence (COE) framework.
- Vision Statement: Create solutions that provide equitable access and remove barriers to behavioral and mental health resources and services for an improved quality of life.
- Mission Statement: To transform mental health and well-being through community-led solutions so that all people who live, work, and play in San Diego South Region can be met where they are at with the resources they need.
