Description
The CATCH My Breath Program contains a vaping prevention curriculum (in English and Spanish) for grades 5-12. It is a peer-led program with adults acting as facilitators, which empowers students to make informed decisions about e-cigarettes and resist social pressures to vape. There are 4 scripted lessons per grade version, lasting 30-45 minutes. CATCH My Breath can be facilitated by educators, state and local government agencies, public health specialists and community volunteers. The program also contains parent resources and additional supplemental lessons. CATCH My Breath also has a youth advisory board to review and inform content and initiatives.
CATCH My Breath is the only school-based vaping prevention program proven to reduce the likelihood of vaping among youth. The CATCH My Breath vaping prevention curriculum is free to US schools. CATCH My Breath was developed in 2016 by the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health and backed by research funded by the National Institutes of Health.
