Warren County Health Department purchased a medication drop box in the health department lobby as an additional resource for community members to discard unused and expired prescription drugs. The goal is to collect expired and unused drugs from the community to prevent them from getting into the hands of our youth, as well as prescription drug misuse. The drug disposal drop box positively impacts the Warren County community by providing a safe and convenient way for residents to dispose of unused or expired medications. Reducing the risk of prescription drug abuse and accidental overdoses. It helps to prevent environmental contamination by ensuring medications are not improperly discarded, such as in landfills or water systems. Additionally, the presence of a drop box promotes community awareness about the importance of responsible medication management and can foster a sense of collective responsibility for public health and safety. These drop boxes contribute to healthier communities and encourage proactive engagement in combating substance misuse.

• Opioid billboards ran for another fiscal year
• A total of 60 lbs was collected for the year of 2023
• HRSA Grant allowed the distribution of medication lock boxes of assorted sizes and HIV Testing Kits
• Partnership with Warren County EMS for Narcan Training
• HRSA Grant allowed the purchase of Narcan storage boxes and AEDs throughout the county to be easily accessible to vulnerable Warren County citizens. It also allowed us to purchase Narcan and Deterra,  distributed to the community through drug takeback, health fairs, mental health awareness, and other community and religious events. 

• Opioid billboards are still ongoing. This year, we will have two billboards concerning opioid awareness. 
• A total of 40 lbs was collected during the first and second quarter of the year. 
• Distribution of medication lock boxes of assorted sizes and HIV Testing Kits available.
• Narcan storage boxes (4)  will be distributed throughout the county.
