Strengthening the continuum of care of birthing people and their partners of child-bearing age before, during, and after pregnancy supports equitable access to quality care and increases positive maternal health outcomes.
Every Baby Guilford is strengthening the continuum of care by:
- Using perinatal health ambassadors to assist in disseminating information to the community.
- Promoting and implementing racial equity and implicit bias capacity building with providers to improve quality of care.
- Co-designing a community “checklist” that is developed and shared to promote self-advocacy and trust between patients and providers.
- Amplifying the work of core partners of Every Baby Guilford in promoting preconception health in Guilford County:
Progress in 2024
Through the Perinatal Health Ambassador Program, 32 community members were trained as peer educators to advance reproductive life planning. For more information, email bgrant@guilfordcountync.gov, perinatal health coordinator.- By partnering with the Preconception Peer Education (PPE) Program, 19 students from NCAT participated in spreading awareness, ensuring that reproductive health education reached college campuses and beyond.
- Every Baby Guilford partnered with RIOTT for Change engaging 48 public health team members in four focus groups and 70 clinical staff in workshops on cultural humility and equity, while leadership teams worked on strategies to improve hiring practices and team dynamics.
- Eight professionals were trained in the Mothers and Babies Program, a equipping them to deliver vital support to expecting and new mothers. By addressing stress and enhancing coping strategies, this evidence-based perinatal depression prevention intervention continues to nurture healthier beginnings for families across Guilford County.
- Through reproductive health justice training with RJ Squared, Guilford County continued to advocate for equity and awareness to inspire systemic change, ensuring that all families can access the care and support they need.
- Every Baby Guilford and partners promoted the use of the Reproductive Life Planning Guide, a checklist to help patients decide if, when, and how to have children based on their personal goals.
Progress in 2025
Every Baby Guilford continued to strengthen the continuum of care for reproductive health care. 2025 highlights include:
- Peer education initiatives helped 2 college programs and 31+ partners (students, ambassadors and health workers) engage over 595 community members.
- Perinatal Health Ambassadors reached 255 individuals at 24 hosted events and fostered dialogue in 340 direct conversations.
- Eight professionals were trained in the Mothers and Babies Program, an evidence-based perinatal depression prevention effort to better equipping them to deliver vital support to expecting and new mothers.
- Every Baby Guilford and partners continued to promote the use of the Reproductive Life Planning Guide, a checklist to help patients decide if, when, and how to have children based on their personal goals.
- Ambassadors shared 504 Reproductive Life Plans, serving family planning and healthy pregnancy initiatives.
- In December 2025, EBG published 16 toolkits containing educational resources and 80+ social media templates for public use. Public health ads amplified our reach through PSAs and digital billboards, garnering over 1.4 million impressions.
