Alamance Behavioral Health Center

Description

In partnership with the Alamance County Government, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, RHA Health Services, and Vaya Health, the Alamance Behavioral Health Center opened in 2024 to offer an array of mental health services, substance use recovery support, and services for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

As a comprehensive care center focused on safety, resiliency, and support at every stage of the wellness journey, it also offers pharmacy services, a peer living room, and a dedicated child/family entrance. For individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis, the center serves as an alternative to the local Emergency Department. Crisis services, including triage, risk assessment, and intervention, will be available 24/7.

Progress in 2025

In 2025, the Alamance Behavioral Health Center has become very important for the community. Law enforcement and EMS bring about 75 people each month to the center when they need help, which is much quicker than waiting a long time in the hospital emergency room. The center also has a special “peer living room” where people can come anytime to talk with others who understand and want to help, without needing an appointment. These services make it easier for people to get the help they need in a kind and friendly way.
