Description
Prepared Childbirth classes can help prepare people for many aspects of becoming a parent. Many soon-to-be parents find that birthing classes really help calm their worries and answer many questions. These classes cover all kinds of issues surrounding childbirth including breathing techniques, pain management, car seat safety, labor partner’s role, and so much more. This class can help prepare soon-to-be parents for many aspects of the pregnancy journey: the changes that pregnancy brings, labor and delivery, and caring for a newborn. Support persons or birthing partners, a positioning pillow, and a snack are always welcome.
Progress in 2025
In 2024, we invited more community partners to present at the Prepared Childbirth education classes as request from participants, and our community partners were interested in connecting with soon-to-be-parents in the community. This was successful but put a strain on the classes due to limited time.
In 2025, we started to change our methods in how we were advertising the classes. We offered incentive cards as well as Baby Bucks for the Baby Store. Originally, each series consisted of four sessions, but we expanded that to five sessions. The fifth session is a Resource Day so that community partners could engage with parents and give out information regarding resources and programs for two hours instead of thirty minutes.
