Description
The Forsyth Focused Collaborative meets and works to address mental health and suicide in our community. In our community, residents are experiencing high rates of mental health concerns that often lead to crisis, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, and increased substance use. A lack of just-in-time, accessible, and culturally responsive care contributes to the severity of these challenges. Additionally, behavioral health services are frequently overloaded and underfunded, highlighting the critical need for prevention efforts and continuity of care. Effective solutions must address social determinants of health, promote peer support, reduce stigma, and improve overall community wellbeing.
Current Goals
-
Community Conversations to encourage open dialogue and connection
-
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) trainings to build community capacity for early intervention
-
Stigma Index initiatives to measure, address, and reduce mental health stigma
Progress in 2025
Virtual listening sessions were conducted as part of a behavioral health needs gap analysis in Forsyth County.
These sessions created space for community members to share their experiences and perspectives to help strengthen mental health, substance use, and intellectual and developmental disability services across the county. Community input gathered through these conversations will help identify service gaps, inform planning efforts, and improve access, quality, and equity in care.
