Increase funding for learning and enrichment that falls outside of K-12 system, including early childhood education, out-of-school-time and summer programming, and college / credential / career preparation programming.

Summary of 2-Year Action Strategy

2022-2023: Build/strengthen coordination practices amongst service providers, and raise school community awareness on enrichment provider opportunities. Design and build a basic cost modeling framework for both early care & education and out-of-school-time providers. Identify accessible funding streams (private and public dollars) based on cost model and need. Advocate for sustainable funding informed by cost modeling demand.

Seed funding for the Youth Master Plan Grant to enhance existing youth-serving programs ($747,000, United Way of Southeast Louisiana with the NOLA Coalition)

  • Grant applications due 9/21/22, Youth and Adult Grant Readers score by 10/11/22, funding begins 11/1/22. 
  • Evaluate reach and impact to inform cost modeling framework.
  • Continued fundraising to meet intended $5million for Year 1 and identify opporutnitys for public matching.
