What We Do
Nash County Senior Services offers a variety of services for adults 60 and older at no cost or based on income limits.
- Nash County has 2 multipurpose senior centers, The NASH located in Nashville and The Southern Nash Senior Center located in Bailey, both centers offer activities such as fitness & exercise, educational programs, socials, computer classes, and daily activities such as crafts, shooting pool and cards. Additional services include: Foot Clinic, SHIIP Counseling, Legal Aid, Heat Relief Fan Program, Seasonal programs for homebound individuals
- The Home Delivered Meal Program provides a lunchtime meal for homebound clients in the rural areas of Nash County. The food is prepared by UNC Nash Hospital and Food Runners out of Wake County. We rely on volunteers to deliver the food. Routes are in Nashville, Castalia, Spring Hope, Red Oak, West Mount, Bailey, Samaria, and Middlesex. Frozen Meals are available for pickup for those that reside outside of an existing HDM route. Produce boxes provided by The Farmers Market are available to HDM clients; this grant will run through 2024.
- General Transportation is provided to The Nash Senior Center every other Monday for individuals to enjoy bingo, and Wal-Mart trips are provided in Rocky Mount and Nashville for individuals to shop once a month. Medical Transportation for non-Medicaid clients transports clients to doctor appointments within Nash County. We contract with Tar River Transit to provide transportation.
- The Family Caregiver Support program is for individuals providing care for an older adult age 60 or older or providing care for a person with Alzheimer’s disease or related brain disorder. Services offered are: information and assistance, support groups, incontinence supplies, nutritional supplements, medical equipment, and respite
- Project Lifesaver is a rapid response program for individuals across the lifespan that are prone to wandering.

How We Impact
The Senior Services Division operates two senior centers to serve the community: the Nash County Senior Center in Nashville and the Southern Nash Senior Center in Bailey. Services are available to the community regardless of income to establish access to programs and services to improve individuals' health and well-being.
Progress in 2023
-There are a total of 1,210 members at the Nash Senior Center and 550 at the Southern Nash Senior Center.
-For classes/workshops, fitness/exercise, health education, nutrition, and health screenings there were a total of 1,143 participants between both senior center locations.
