Community partners at FirstHealth of the Carolinas is joining the Million Hearts® campaign to help save and protect lives impacted by heart disease and stroke. Million Hearts® is a national initiative co-led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Million Hearts has a goal of preventing one million heart attacks and strokes over the next five years. Million Hearts® prioritized strategies for building healthy communities and optimizing care through a committed focus on specific populations experiencing inequities. Progress in 2022-2023
During 2022 - 2023 FirstHealth of the Carolinas worked through the Montgomery County 2030 team to identify community centers, churches, local businesses, and more to place blood pressure stations. These stations were placed in public and private areas to increase the access to blood pressure monitors for the community. The FirstHealth of the Carolinas team implemented fourteen stations throughout the county for use by community members.
