What We Do
Chesapeake Helps serves as the Information and Referral Portion (I&R) portion of the Single point of access for Mid-Shore Region including an information/referral line and website for children and family services with screening for the level of need. For FY2016, Chesapeake Helps serves as the Information and Referral (I&R) portion of the Single Point of Access for Queen Anne's County - the other four counties chose not to participate in a multi-county contract.
Story Behind the Curve
Since the funding was drastically cut, the staff was reduced to a contractual position. In addition, the phone calls aren't coming as steady as they used to, which could possibly be because more people are using other means (cell phone internet searches, computer web searches, etc.). And finally, when setting up the matrix for FY2016, all targets took into account that we would only be tracking Queen Anne's County data, except for one, which was a mistake on the part of Jennifer Stansbury. This target was for number of referrals made which shows a target of 1300, but which should have been considerably lower.
