Why Is This Important?
In May 2019, a seminal United Nations report starkly outlined the rapid deterioration in biodiversity and habitats, and the extinction of species due to human activity. They suggested this will have negative impacts on humankind because of the reliance on functioning ecosystems. Jersey is home to internationally-recognised habitats and species and the management and protection of the natural environment is therefore vital.
