All Alamance county residents are financially stable.

Description

Economic inequality influences many aspects of health and well-being, and low socio-economic status puts people at risk for heart disease, mental health problems, chronic disease, and shorter life expectancy. Higher income, in turn, creates more opportunities for a healthy lifestyle, such as being able to afford to live in a safe neighborhood with parks, sidewalks, good services and strong schools.

Progress on this program 2021-2023

A market salary study was conducted to compare the salary differences for Alamance County employees to county employees of other surrounding counties. The findings when averaging all County positions was a .5% below market for minimum salary and 2.6% for midpoint salary.  The County Commissioners approved a resetting of the salary structure, moving all employees to the new minimum of their position, and a .5% increase for each year of service for all benefited employees (full-time or part-time).

The City of Burlington has increased their wages by 13% from 2022 to 2023.
