Medication Assisted Treatment Program

Description

The purpose of this program is to provide Medication-Assisted Treatment to Beaufort County Detention Center inmates through the use of medications, counseling and behavioral therapies. Through this, the goal is to proivde a whole-patient approach to the treatment of substance use disorders and opioid use disorders. The program serves the Beaufort County Detention Center inmates who have substance use disorders or opioid use disorders. Inmates at the Beaufort County Dentention Center (BCDC) will be enrolled in the program if they identify they are withdrawing from a drug and are interested in the program. The patient is scheduled to see a provider at BCHD after their release from BCDC or to a primary care for continuation of MAT services.

Progress in 2022-2023

Started the medication-assisted therapy partnering with the Beaufort County Detention Center with grant funding received. With this funding, we were able to help individuals get the necessary medication, provide lockboxes, and refer to other services offered by the Beaufort County Health Department.
