Wake County Department of Affordable Housing and Community Revitalization has coordinated with the 12 municipalities across Wake County to discuss affordable housing plans within the county. 

In 2023, Wake County experienced significant difficulties with the crashing of Wake Network of Care. This incident slowed the initial progress made with discussions across Wake Municipalities about housing affordability resources.

In addition, Wake County Commissioners began leading the coordinating advocacy efforts after a warm hand off from Wake County's Affordable Housing and Community Revitalization Department. This marked the start of a new municipal engagement strategy for Wake County. 

During 2024, 8 out of 12 municipalities have either started or finished developing affordable housing plans for their communities. 2 municipalities are currently gathering evidence to support the affordable housing needs within their communities. Only 2 municipalities do not plan on making progress towards an affordable housing plan.
