Orange County Community Health Advocacy and Mobilization Partners (OC CHAMPS)

Description

The Orange County Community Health Advocacy and Mobilization Partners (OC CHAMPS) is the new name of what was previously listed as the Orange County Community Health Workers (CHW) Coalition. The name was voted on by group members. This group began meeting in August of 2024 and the members are all community health workers or people who work in a similar role throughout Orange County. One purpose of this coalition is to have a shared space where coalition members can connect and collaborate with one another. This coalition seeks to educate one another and the people they serve on the resources present in Orange County and any service referral process, and to promote awareness of events, challenges, and other topics.

Progress in 2024

The first meeting for this coalition was on August 2, 2024, and brought over 30 CHWs together which allowed many of them to meet for the first time. Meetings also occurred in the months of September and November of 2024. The group brainstormed the main goals of the coalition, voted on an official name, and discussed best ways to communicate with the community and each other. As this coalition was founded near the end of 2024, three performance measures tracking group member satisfaction and collaboration do not yet have data points at the time of this SOTCH submission in March of 2025. The group plans to collect and share this data in the future. The coalition also intends to be involved in other parts of the Community Health Improvement Plans, for example, the sharing of information on mental health trainings and community resources in the area.

If you are interested in joining the OC CHAMPS, please reach out to McKayla Creed at mcreed@orangecountync.gov and she will connect you with the leader(s) of the coalition.
