Color Me Healthy

What We Do

Addresses physical activity and nutrition to children between the ages of four and five years of age.  Color me Healthy addresses the fruit and vegetable intake and physical activity among Robeson County Pre-K children.  Also, families of the children served will be impacted since they will receive Color me Healthy parent newsletters (these are part of the purchased curriculum) that will be distributed by teachers and/or the program coordinator.  Color me Healthy is an evidenced informed twelve week program that incorporates fun and interactive lessons for children to learn about the importance of physical activity and nutrition.

Who We Serve

20 NC Pre-K four year old classrooms in Robeson County.  Three hundred Robeson County Pre-K/daycare children will receive Color me Healthy

How We Impact

Color Me Healthy will help Pre-K students understand the importance of a nutritious diet and physical activity which will pave the way for their success upon entering kindergarten.  Overall, the CMH program increases at the post-evaluation with respect to including nutrition and physical activity in the lesson plans, sampling new foods in meals and snacks, and including nutrition and physical activity in the parental education component.

Progress on this program during the 2020-2023 Cycle.

Color Me Healthy program teaches four and five year old's about healthy eating and exercise.  Color Me Healthy Robeson is an evidenced informed nine lesson program that uses color, music, dance and imaginary play to provide opportunites for physical activity and to teach children the importance of eating fruits and vegetables.  Color Me Healthy served 195 four and five year olds in 20 different daycares throughout Robeson County.  Color Me Healthy Coordinator has a strong connection with students and teachers.  The kids get so exicted when the Coordinator enters the classroom.  Students really enjoy tasting new fruits and trying fruit in their water which promotes healthy habits at a young age.  However, funding for Color Me Healthy has ended and the program will no longer be implemented.  Hopefully, in the future, funding can be secured to continue this wonderful program for children in Robeson County.
