What We Do
OCHD provides the ACEs Resiliency Screening class to educate the community on the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences and their connection to long-term health outcomes. This program equips participants with strategies to build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and support healthier responses to stress. By fostering greater awareness and understanding, the class encourages the development of stronger family and community support systems. These efforts contribute to breaking cycles of trauma and promoting improved health and well-being across the population.
Who We Serve
Families and Children
How We Impact
ACEs training helps participants identify children in need, understand the impact of ACEs, identify risk and protective factors, and locate resources to help those impacted by ACEs. Increased awareness of ACEs (and protective factors) will enable participants to better serve their communities and identify opportunities to improve the lives of children in Onslow County.
Progress in 2025
OCHD has focused on increasing awareness of ACEs by providing training to both staff internally and partners throughout the community.
