The Family Navigator from Caroline County Public Schools made a determination that 11 students could benefit from the mentoring program and made referrals prior to gaining parent permission.

Referrals have increased due to the Family Navigator's determination of need.  We will work with the Family Navigator in FY23 to insure she gets parent permission before making the referrals. 

FY21

As with all programs Covid restrictions have affected the number of referrals.  Referrals started coming in when the restrictions were lifted.  This program during out of school time has served upward of 70 youth and youth that have been in the program prior to FY21 and stopped coming during Covid have started to return.

FY22

11 referrals were made by the Famiy Navigator.  Parent permissions were not obtained prior to the referral which resulted in none of the parents granting permission for their youth to be in the program due to reasons beyond parental control.  The HSC Program Coordinator has discussed with the Men for Change Program Coordinator has discussed the importance of getting parent permissions before getting the referral.   The HSC will ensure in the future that the family navigator understands they must get parent permission prior to their referral to the program.
