Story Behind the Curve
Reporting A1C values to the National Diabetes Prevention Program (through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) is an optional data element. However, LCs chose to collect A1C values for the cohorts that were completed in 2023, 2024 and 2025. In reviewing A1C data from the cohort completed in 2024, the values increased in a couple of participants who made minimal lifestyle changes throughout the program. There were several participants that were very dedicated to making lifestyle changes. Unfortunately, it was not reflected in their final A1C readings. Some participants in the cohort completed in 2025 did not meet their weight goal; however, they did experience a reduction in their A1C.
