Community attendance at SW events has ebbed and flowed, with powerful spikes in October 2024 and March 2025. These moments weren’t accidental—they were the result of careful planning, strong outreach, and events designed with and for the community. These gatherings included food, interpretation, child-friendly spaces, and culturally relevant content, making them not only informative but joyful. Lower attendance during the winter months reflected fewer scheduled events and reduced outreach capacity. But even during quieter months, SisterWeb continued to show up—and that consistency matters. Over time, the community learns that SW events are a reliable place to connect, share, and be seen.

Trusted partners played a key role in driving turnout. UCSF, local clinics, and neighborhood organizations helped promote events and brought their own networks to the table. Their support lent credibility and reach. Looking ahead, partnering with local schools, libraries, and mutual aid groups could help reach new families and deepen community roots.

What works best is simple: showing up consistently and making people feel welcome. Events that offered practical resources, bilingual support, and visible doulas from the community drew larger and more diverse crowds. Creating space for storytelling, peer leadership, and cultural celebration transformed these events from service points into community anchors.

SisterWeb will continue to center relationship-building in event planning. Moving forward, the team will prioritize regular gatherings—big and small—that reflect what community members care about. Strengthening partnerships, offering logistical support, and listening closely to attendee feedback will guide the next chapter of outreach and connection.
