Target: 165 investigations and monitoring visits per quarter

An average of 150 investigations and annual monitoring visits have occurred each quarter during the past two years. Investigations completed have been lower than that for the last three quarters (Q4 2024 - Q2 2025), possibly due to Hurricane Helene and delays in data entry. The CEH Branch is working with LHDs to try to increase investigations of homes where BLLs are 5-9ug/dL, which are voluntary.  

 

NOTE: 

Numbers may not accurately reflect all the environmental investigations that were conducted in a given quarter due to delays in data entry. Numbers for previous quarters may be periodically updated when it is estimated most of the data for that quarter has been entered.

 

• All 86 Local Health District Environmental Health Offices

• Offering EBL investigations in person vs. over the phone/by mail
• Being knowledgeable and persuasive in offering investigations so commonly asked questions are answered

CEH has updated questions asking about spices and other food items during investigations.  They are also continuing to work with community groups, healthcare providers, and the public to increase interest in environmental investigations.
