The results are expressed as a single number ranging from -2 to +2. It represents job stress versus job satisfaction. Positive scores point toward a psychologically safer environment while negative scores suggest a greater risk of harm.

The SSOX represents the responses as they relate to stress versus satisfaction, lower scores mean more stess than satisfaction, higher scores mean more satisfaction than stress.

This information helps identify psychosocial conditions as high, elevated, average or low-risk zones in your workplace.

Story Behind the Curve

Secondary traumatic stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue are well-described among professionals involved in medicolegal death investigation. These professionals report lower stress and burnout when their organization promotes mental health awareness and wellness.

We've taken several steps over the past year to reduce staff stress and increase job satisfaction. These include career growth opportunities, additional operations, additional funding, and cross-training through internships and job shadowing opportunities.

These changes led to higher SOSS scores. Our SSOS scores have been stable for the past 3 quarters.
