Story Behind the Curve
The THRIVE program needs to have a clear focus on its mission, vision, and values. To do this, one must get a deep understanding of the breadth of partnerships, partner capabilities, services, and community expectations.
Partners
Definition: A community partner is an individual, organization, or group that works with others to achieve a shared goal that benefits the community. Community partnerships can be formal or informal, and can involve a variety of entities and individuals, such as
- Community-based nonprofit organizations.
- Associations (neighborhood, sororities, fraternities)
- Faith-based
- Health care providers.
- University research centers or colleges of education.
- Mission-driven foundations.
- Governmental agencies.
- Local business.
What Works
With the rise of performance management, work in the public sector has changed. An output focus has become more common. Other changes include decentralization and managing organizations more horizontally. Setting performance goals and working in teams exemplify these developments. Analyses on survey data show that both goal clarity and self-management positively affect team performance. (link)
