Story Behind the Curve
The Yadkin County Opioid Coalition applied for and received a grant from Partners Behavioral Health LME/MCO. This grant enabled the Opioid Coordinator to develop harm reduction kits that are currently being distributed throughout the county. The kits contain the following: basic first aid supplies, fentanyl test strips, narcan, gloves, alcohol swabs, educational materials on prevention of HIV and Hep C. The Community Paramedic contact information is also included in the kit.
Partners
Opioid Coordinator and Community Paramedic partnered with local churches, free medical clinics, juvenile crime prevention coordinators, police departments, fire departments, and libraries to distribute 541 harm reduction kits in 1 year. Kits are still available and continue to be distributed with no questions asked.
