These numbers help show traded sector business growth in Portland. This is the cumulative number of businesses that relocated to, or expanded in Portland and received support for that growth from Prosper Portland since FY 2023-24.

Large or small, a company can be qualified as “traded sector” if it sells goods outside our region, bringing external money into local economies and creating living wage jobs. 

Traded sector businesses can include manufacturers, athletic and outdoor, green cities, food & beverage manufacturing, whole trade companies, software services, professional services, etc. Businesses that are typically not considered to be traded sector are locally serving only, and include restaurants, retailers, and health care.

These numbers show that 52 businesses were supported by Prosper Portland from FY 2023-24 to FY 2024-25 with expansions or moves to Portland. This is 42 more businesses that what was projected for FY 2024-25. The City of Portland's fiscal year is from July 1 to June 30.

This number represents the total number of traded sector business relocations both within Portland and into Portland as well as expansions within Portland that were supported through Prosper Portland’s activities. Traded sector businesses are defined as those selling goods and services outside of the Portland region.
