North Carolina's age-adjusted female drug poisoning (overdose) death rate continues to trend below age-adjsted overdose death rates for the state's male population. Both male and female populations have experienced a significant rise in death rates since 2016. The rise in male death rates has been at a steeper climb since 2019, broadening the gap between male and female overdose death rates to over thirty points.
