Story Behind the Curve

  • For SSI/SSP, recent months of actual state data trends indicate the caseload is decreasing at a slower rate compared to prior projections. For the 2025-26 Governor’s Budget, CDSS projects that the caseload for FY 2024-25 will decrease by 1.3 percent from the previous FY and the caseload for FY 2025-26 will decrease by 0.7 percent from FY 2024-25. However, Alameda has seen an increase in the number of applications approved and projects this trend to continue due to SSI advocacy, an increase in the General Assistance population, and the high percentage of Alameda’s General Assistance population deemed unemployable.
