Deaths investigated by the Utah OME are those that meet specific statutory criteria, such as deaths that are sudden, unexpected, violent, suspicious, or unattended by a physician. This includes all cases referred to the OME and falling under OME jurisdiction. It does not include reviews done for permitting purposes if a body will be rendered unavailable for postmortem examination, this includes removal from the state and cremation.
