Story Behind the Curve
The performance measure for this data value was set up to reflect the percent of youth that reach a rank advancement each year. As noted in the chart every Scout learns new skills, but sometimes they don't accomplish everything needed to advance a rank in that year. The Prairie Winds District will continue to track the advancement rates in each unit and support the leadership where needed. Sometimes units just need to be encouraged to attend an event or a camp session where the youth have the opportunity to learn new skills.
Partners
Scouting partners with a variety of organizations to bring the Scouting program to the youth of Story County. Many service organizations like , American Legions, Lions Clubs, Izaak Walton League, Elks Lodge, and a multitude of Churches serve as a chartering partner to our Scout Packs, Troops, and Crews. The Chartering Organizations adopts the Scouting program for their youth and provide meeting space, helps recruit, approve leaders and follow the policies of the Boy Scouts of America. Scouting is supported by many of these same organizations and individuals in the communities of the Story county financially. Their support enables the Scouting program to flourish and grow. We are voluteer driven and hundreds of voluteers offer their time, knowledge, skills and finanical support to keep the program strong.
Action Plan
The Prairie Winds District Committee will continue to monitor and evaluate the advancement of the Scout units in Story County. Where the completion of ranks is low they will assit the leadership in making corrective measures so the youth can advance a rank in a years time and have fun. Scouting is a game with a purpose.
