This indicator is based on a median-priced dwelling in Jersey that a household with an average income would be able to service ‘affordably’.

What is this about?
This indicator looks at whether a household with an average net income would be able to afford a median-priced property in Jersey. It does so by looking at the proportion of the required mortgage that the average household could afford to service.
A working household with average net income has not been able to afford to service a mortgage on a median-priced house of any size in Jersey since 2002. Over the last decade, the proportion of the required mortgage that such a household could afford has reduced from about 90% to less than 67%.
