About the Indicator
Healthy People 2030 sets data-driven national objectives to improve health and well-being over the next decade. It notes that “Falls are a major cause of death for older adults in the United States, and deaths from falls have increased in recent years. Strategies to help older adults living on their own or in care facilities prevent falls, like interventions to increase physical activity, can reduce deaths in this age group.” Healthy People 2030 includes a national objective to reduce the rate of emergency department visits due to falls among older adults.
This indicator measures the rate of fall-related deaths among older adults in California. Check out the Health Reimagined Goal Page to explore dynamic visualizations and view more detailed data related to this topic.
