Story Behind the Curve
This indicator remains relatively constant. This information is provided using data from the Vermont Judiciary's case management system, Enterprise Justice. Population numbers for this analysis taken from 2020 U.S. Census data.
An analysis would need to be undertaken of the Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire court systems to determine a Northern New England benchmark for this measure to ensure an accurate comparison.

Notes on Methodology
This indicator was calculated using the number of final Relief from Abuse entry orders, not including temporary orders, final extended orders, or final modified orders, by fiscal year. At the time this information was extracted from the Judiciary's case management system, it was not reviewed on a case level basis for accuracy. Due to the phased transition of the Vermont Judiciary from its legacy case management system (VTADS) to its new case management system (Enterprise Justice/Odyssey), which occurred between June 2019 and February 2021, there is a lack of comparable data to provide an indicator value for years earlier than fiscal year 2021.
