There is also a stigma around drug use and therefore some efforts to help the problem are not always effective.  They feel that healthcare providers and counselors make you feel bad for using and act as if the problem is your fault. Our Peer Support Specialists are a go between for their clients and the needs that they need met. Peer Support Specialists are connecting their clients to resources such as food, clothes, phones, sober living housing, Medication Assisted Treatment, mental health providers, recovery treatment, and support groups. The Peer Support Specialists help give their clients hope and are role models for recovery. The Peer Support Specialists help connect clients to the recovery community. The Peer Support Specialists are getting a connection to clients while they are in jail and let them know that once they are released from jail, to call them and they can help them get the resources they need to continue living in the recovery community.
