Story Behind the Curve
Parolees can return to incarceration by having their parole revoked for a technical violation or for committing a new crime, or a combination of the two. For FY23 (July 2022-June 2023), there was a total of 54 parole violations that resulted in a revocation. Of the total revocations in FY23, 70.4% were due to committing a new crime (can include a technical violation as well) and 29.6% were due to technical violations.
