ACT Work Readiness Course

• 34 Individuals Enrolled in ACT Work Readiness Coursework YTD
• 11 or 32% have completed all Ten ACT WorkKeys Essential Skills Modules w/cerficiates.
• 7 or 20% of participants are working to complete the WorkKeys NCRC Assessments. -This process was slowed down due to having to pivot to taking the paper version of this nationally recognized work readiness certification. Individuals are currently still working toward completing this assessment in FY2024
  Penn Foster

• All courses were assigned by the end of FY2023, with 14 individuals enrolled and five (5) actively working toward completion.

• One participant was 80% completed on coursework.

• Successes- There is a lot of interest in the programming associated with Penn Foster training courses.  We have received positive feedback on and motivation to complete for those who start coursework.  

• Our challenges have been that Penn Foster has not been responsive in returning quizzes and updating module work. This is frustrating to instructors and to students. The limitations of implementing in a correctional setting, coupled with the inconsistent responsiveness of our Penn Foster representative, make the process of assessing student progress very lengthy.  

• We are working on finding ways to meet more often with participants to help move them along more quickly and plan to reach out to Penn Foster for someone new to work with to get a faster turnaround on quizzes and coursework reviews.

• Additionally, efforts to reassign assigned courses of individuals who did not start to individuals on the waitlist is another issue we have been working to achieve.  

• Future planning- Because of the interest of individuals at the detention center for workforce training options, we are looking into other programs that could be implemented in a correctional setting that lead to credentials. Ex:  www.icevonline.com Certifications
