Story Behind the Curve
The Great Recess Framework (GRF) is a tool designed to assess the quality of a school's recess, and to help gauge whether students are engaging in safe and healthy play. The GRF is divided into three sections: Safety, Engagement and Empowerment.

Data Methodology
Schools are graded on a scale of 1-4 in several areas of Engagement. These areas include:
Inclusivness of games and activities, variety of games and activities, equipment variety, transitions(s) to recess, transition(s) from recess, little to no rule disagreements, adults reinforce rules, student activity level, adult engagement.
Score listed is an average of the participating schools' great recess framework overall safety score. Schools included are:
22-23 - Jefferson East Elementary, Watertown Douglas Elementary, Lake Mills Elementary, Jefferson Middle School.
23-24 - Jefferson East Elementary, Watertown Douglas Elementary
