Data was sourced from NC DETECT and the 2021 population counts from the 5-year American Community Survey in order to calculate the crude rates presented in the graph. Calculation was done by staff at New Hanover County Health & Human Services. The data represents the rate per 100,000 of emergency department (ED) in New Hanover County for suicidal ideations, thoughts, plans, and/or intent each month, separated by race.
