This measure is important because it shows the amount of money the Casualty Team is bringing in to contribute to the overall DVHA budget.

The total amount collected by the Casualty Team will vary from month to month and has no set guaranteed recovery amount.  Financial reporting is based on the MARS (Management and Reporting Sub-System) calendar.  This calendar is an annualized calendar created by Gainwell, which defines key processing and transfer dates to the State of Vermont including the date in which Gainwell runs their weekly cycle of claims payment and financial transactions.

The trendline shows the monthly amount recovered by the Casualty Team.

In SFY24, The Casualty Recovery Team is implementing a new strategy to increase the $ amount collected prior to a case reaching the statute of limitations.  The Team will divide the open cases among staff and outreach each case at least once annually.  A new letter template will be sent to each attorney or insurance company for each file requesting a status update.
