Story Behind the Curve
In March 2024, the CATCH My Breath youth vaping prevention program was implemented in Northern Middle School. The program was delivered to 60 sixth-grade students.
In March 2025, the CATCH My Breath youth vaping prevention program was implemented in Northern Middle School and Southern Middle School. Because the program was extended to Southern Middle School, the program reach increased to 123 sixth-grade students.
Partners
Partners for the CATCH My Breath program included the Person County Board of Education; health and physical education teachers from Northern Middle School and Southern Middle School; school principals; and Person County Schools' Nurse Supervisor.
What Works
Expanding the program to include Southern Middle School increased the number of program participants.
Action Plan
PCHD plans to include Southern Middle School in the CATCH My Breath program during the spring of 2025 .
PCHD plans to facilitate the CATCH My Breath program in both Northern Middle and Southern Middle School in the spring of 2026.
