Story Behind the Curve

Nonprofits collect data from funded partners for a number of reasons, including:

  • Building partnerships

Collecting data from partners can help maximize their impact and demonstrate the value of the partnership to corporate sponsors. This can help maintain current partnerships and attract new ones.

  • Supporting equity, diversity, and inclusion

Demographic data from grant seekers can help build equity, diversity, and inclusion into grantmaking. This data can help identify patterns of exclusion and partner with communities that need support.

  • Understanding programs

Tracking exit points can help identify why participants might be leaving a program and how to increase engagement. This can help understand what's working and how to improve programs.

  • Communicating impact

Data can help nonprofits quantify and communicate their impact to the community, which can help build credibility.

  • Making informed decisions

Data can help nonprofits make more effective decisions based on their organization's successes and pitfalls.

Partners

Community-based organizations, as a requirement of funding acceptance, either collect and report on individual data or aggregate data based upon the type of intervention/program being implemented. Quarterly, as required by the Ohio Department of Medicaid, funded partners report the number of newly enrolled clients/participants by race.
