Data Discussion
The race/ethnicity subgroups (if available) are written as provided from the original data source.
Footnotes from Data Source: Race is provided only for those students who are not Hispanic and students who identify as Hispanic are shown as Hispanic only. Race may not be available for every student, therefore, the sum of students across all race or ethnicities may not add up to the overall count. Census tracts are determined based on students’ September residency in the associated academic year. Some students did not have a census tract reported in the original data and these students are assigned the census tract that corresponds to the school of attendance. This measure includes students that were in the 3rd grade in the applicable year. A student was considered proficient if the student has a score of 3 or 4. MSDE data suppression rules applied to groups less than 10 to protect privacy. Keep in mind that some sample sizes may be small when reviewing percentages. Data presented in aggregate for all Census tracts if community is defined as more than one tract.
