Definition
Technical assistance includes tools that will help you start or grow your business. Why Is This Important?
Prosper Portland helps create jobs and local investment by giving businesses industry connections and resources to help them grow. Local investment means spending money in Portland at Portland businesses.
Buying from local businesses is good for our city, for our neighborhoods, for our economy, for our fellow Portlanders. When you shop small and local, you’re buying from your neighbors and friends. You’re keeping your nearby coffeehouse or food cart flourishing. You’re giving that friendly little shop down the street another day to open its doors and welcome you in.
What Do The Numbers Show?
Teams provide economic support through five key types of work:
- Business Advancement and Growth
- Neighborhood Resources & Investments
- Small Business Support & Navigation
- Support to Job Seekers
This is the number of small businesses who received technical assistance in each fiscal year through the Inclusive Business Resource Network (IBRN), Community Opportunities and Enhancements Program (COEP), Business Advance Team (BAT) and the Office of Small Business (OSB) programs.
How Did We Arrive at These Numbers?
The Inclusive Business Resource Network (IBRN) and the Office of Small Business (OSB) track small businesses supported through various reporting platforms.
The increase in FY 2024-25 is due to the launch of the OSB in early 2025.
