This position lasted approximately two months before the CDC dismantled to Public Health Associate program.  The associate was scheduled to complete a two year placement within the local health department. 

Offering the PHAP internship in rural North Carolina clinics benefits both the program and the community by providing interns with hands-on, rural-specific experience and increasing the clinic's workforce capacity to address local public health needs. This helps train associates for public health careers, fills resource gaps, and improves healthcare access for medically underserved populations.
