What Works
- Repeated outreach to past drop outs via multiple methods including face-to-face contact
- Addressing individual barriers to participation and reengagement
Action Plan
Through in-person contacts and case management, 80% of program youth will engage in classes with Talbot County Public Schools or with Chesapeake College, or become employed. The Reengagment Coordinator will employ various efforts to reach out to students. These include but are not limited to: texts, social media, telephone, and face-to-face. She will track the number of students and document the methods used for outreach.
Data Discussion
Communication challenges in FY21, most notably the absence of face-to-face meetings, made it challenging to establish working relationships with the youth. While the Reengagement Coordinator used other avenues to communicate, the lack of in-person contact may have adversely impact youth reengagement.
